German audio equipment manufacturer, Sennheiser, has unveiled its next-generation ceiling microphone at ISE 2019, which claims to clearly capture the voice of everyone in a meeting or board room with a single mic.
The new Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 mic harnesses patented adaptive beaming technology, honing in on the active speaker and following their voice regardless of movement across a room.
The mic can be used with existing analogue conference systems or integrated into fully digital systems, controllable via an IP network.
Sennheiser’s TeamConnect Ceiling 2 mic supports power over ethernet (PoE), Crestron’s control platform, Sennheiser’s Control Cockpit and Dante Domain Manager.
The device can also be integrated into media and camera control systems via open media protocol (API).
Sennheiser Portfolio Manager Business Communications Systems, Jens Werner, claims the mic has been crafted with an “entirely new manufacturing process”, resulting in a “considerably lower price than its predecessor” despite several new features.
The product is positioned as an ideal option for medium to large meeting rooms, mounted to the ceiling and powered via ethernet.
The device incorporates 28 omni-directional microphone capsules, and claims to offer excellent audio quality free from distracting ambient noise.
Sennheiser’s TeamConnect Ceiling 2 mic is set to launch internationally in April, with Australian pricing and availability to be confirmed.
