British audio brand Pure has again joined forces with Commercial Radio Australia to offer a free set of Urbanears Wireless Headphones (RRP $149.95) with every Pure DAB+ digital radio purchase starting from RRP $129.99 until May 12.

Launched in time for Mother’s Day, the campaign will include radio ads broadcast in six markets including Hobart — where commercial digital radio services were switched on this April with three new DAB+ stations: KIX Country Music, Triple M Classic Rock and Easy Hits.

Darwin and Canberra are scheduled to launch digital radio services in 2019, and trials services will be updated to increase coverage areas and reception.

Since digital radio launched in the five major cities in 2009, over 4.73 million DAB+ radios have been sold in Australia, including 2.56 million home and portable receivers.

“Mother’s Day is the perfect time to treat mum to the latest digital radio,” said CRA chief executive officer Joan Warner.

“It’s a gift she can enjoy every day, as research shows mothers spend on average more than 13 hours each week listening to radio.”

“Consumers looking for a great deal will love this offer because they can buy a quality radio for mum and get a set of headphones for themselves – everyone wins,” said Sohan Karunaratne, COO of Aqipa, Pure’s Australian distributor.

“The retail climate has been subdued but personal audio is doing well, consumers are gravitating towards premium and portable products designed for individual listening.”

The offer is available at major retailers including JB HiFi, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, Myer, David Jones, Amazon Australia, Betta Home Living, Retravision and select independent retailers until May 12, aka Mother’s Day.
