Plantronics and its recently acquired teleconferencing outfit Polycom are rebranding as Poly in an effort to rejig its image with a renewed focus on enterprise communication and collaboration.

Best known for being one of the first audio companies to produce Bluetooth headsets, Plantronics the company will now refocus on audio solutions for the modern workplace.

According to its press release, Poly aims to be “the solution of choice” for modern business who want to reduce distractions and increase productivity.

Plantronics acquired Polycom last year and together they are rebranding to a punchier title, Poly — meaning many — that will refocus on the enterprise industry.

Many are speculating that the move is in response to Logitech walking away from its acquisition of the company.

The audio company never managed to achieve the level of success and brand recognition as its competitors Beats and Sony.

However, it continuously delivered solid products at much cheaper prices, leading to its claimed 215% growth in the Aussie gaming market last year.

Apparently, as the gaming market continues to saturate with competition, Poly is moving more towards the enterprise space.

Poly is also unveiling a slew of new products and services including an Eagle Eye Cube 4K conference camera; a Polycom Studio video USB bar compatible with Microsoft Teams, Zoom and others; and much more.

It also plans to provide analytics for its new products, so a call centre equipped with Poly products can know how its employees are performing.

“Today feels like my first day as CEO of a new company,” said Joe Burton, president and chief executive officer, Poly.

“We see limitless opportunity for how people communicate and collaborate today. With advancements in AI, machine learning and new technologies, we see a future where Poly makes the connection, then quietly steps out of the way to become the one thing you don’t notice in the meeting.”
