Sonos Confirm Australian Price + Availability For Playbase Soundbar

As previously tipped by ChannelNews, wireless sound player Sonos has announced a new Playbase is coming to the Australian market.

The new Playbase will boast a wraparound speaker grille on the front, an Ethernet port on the back and a unique oval shape. It’s designed to sit underneath your TV and Sonos say it’s designed to sustain under 35kgs of weight.

The company says the Playbase’s “low profile design practically disappears beneath your TV, yet it fills your entire viewing room with epic home cinema audio.”

Notably, there’s no HDMI pass-through for connecting your media players directly and, like all Sonos products, it’ll come without support for 24-bit or hi-res audio. 

It’ll arrive in JB Hi-Fi from April at a price of $999. A new Playbar with a more traditional soundbar design, is set to arrive alongside it with the same price-tag.
