It’s only been one day since Apple’s true wireless AirPods have gone on sale but the company has already rolled out the seemingly inevitable with a new replacement service.
While they do come with a one-year warranty covering audio and battery defects,in the US at least, the company will replace any damaged or lost earbuds for a fee of $69 per AirPod.
ChannelNews have reached out to Apple to confirm the Australian availability of the service.
It’s a similar service offered by other true wireless headphone suppliers like Jabra and Samsung. We spoke to Jabra’s AU team who confirmed they had a similar replacement scheme in place for the new Jabra Elite Sport earbuds but couldn’t detail a specific pricing policy.
The AirPods can be found at JB Hi-Fi and other locals retailers stocking Apple products for an RRP of $230.
Update: We managed to confirm that Australian Apple stores will offer the replacement program for a fee of $99 per AirPod lost. Units suffering from battery problems can also be replaced for a lower fee of $69.
